Deby Evans

Deby Evans is MVC’s Site Engagement Manager.

I’d like to talk a little bit about my new role as Site Engagement Manager and some of the engagement experiences we are offering through MVC. With a background in nursing and midwifery I am excited about the Michigan Value Collaborative mission statement of “Helping Michigan hospitals achieve their best possible patient outcomes at the lowest reasonable cost”. We aim to accomplish this goal by not only providing hospitals with robust claims data but also through collaborative sharing of quality improvement initiatives to reduce cost. Here at the MVC Coordinating Center we have and continue to work on a variety of enterprises to offer to our members to promote site engagement.

Since 2015 we have performed over 70 affiliate site visits to gather information on quality improvement projects that are happening throughout Michigan and to hear feedback on improving the website. We have heard that these visits are useful to gather folks within organizations together and build personable relationships with the Coordinating Center. Moving forward we will continue visiting our associates to stay-up to-date on your projects, discover what else is new, provide support for your initiatives and learn how we can promote serving you better. We will be sending out invitations but if you are interested in having a site visit please let the Coordinating Center know.

The workgroups will continue to provide a forum for members to discuss different topics, conditions and initiatives. Last week the CHF Toolkit v. 2.0 was shared on the blog (download from the resources page in the registry) with further ideas to help met our collaborative goal of being the state with the lowest CHF readmission rate in the country and we are pioneering a longitudinal CHF workgroup in January. Upcoming workgroups taking place include post-acute care for Joint replacement in conjunction with MARCQI and a workgroup targeting the unique challenges of rural hospitals. Some exciting workgroup news is that registration will be through the blog page. A calendar of workgroup sessions is posted here and members can register for the date that works best.

We are looking forward to our semi-annual meeting on April 21st 2017 at Lansing Community College. This is an exciting event for us to meet and touch base with each of you. Our agenda is in progress so no spoilers here but don’t forget to mark your calendars.

Other engagement activities we are working on here at the Coordinating Center include increased blog activity, more YouTube videos to help navigation through the website along with webinars scheduled for February and March (see calendar here for details) and webcasts for specific reports and more detailed information. Additionally, we would like to create an interactive discussion board on the blog. We are always open to ideas from our members that will promote engagement and would like to ask you: what would make you a more enthusiastic and captivated member of MVC?

Our goal is to have each of our hospitals be involved in one or more of the engagement experiences offered through MVC. There are great quality initiatives going on in all your facilities and we truly want to help hospitals collaborate together to mitigate costs yet reform patient outcomes throughout Michigan. I am here to help support and cultivate relationships within the MVC collaborative; please feel free to contact me at any time ( I am excited to see what valuable outcomes will be achieved over the coming year.
